Liesl Buskirk

Caring for patients with thyroid and parathyroid disease is personal to Liesl Buskirk, PA-C. She was just a young girl when she noticed that her grandmother always wore a pearl choker or high-necked top. When she asked why, she learned that thyroid surgery left her grandmother with a long scar across the front of her neck that she didn't want others to notice. In the years since, both of Liesl's parents and a sister have also been treated for thyroid disease. Knowing that surgery may someday be necessary for them, Liesl was intrigued when she learned about Dr. Jon Russell's work to offer thyroid and parathyroid treatments that minimize the kind of scars her grandmother was trying to disguise.

Trained as a Physician Assistant at the University of Maryland Baltimore,  Liesl values collaborative decision making and partnering with patients to develop treatment plans that align with their needs and lifestyle. At the Russell Center, Liesl is committed to learning each patient's history and making sure their individual concerns are addressed during the visit with care that is comprehensive and personalized. Her approach emphasizes patient education, helping individuals to better understand their condition and weigh various recommended treatment options.

Dedicated to staying at the forefront of thyroid and parathyroid care with specialized training in ultrasound diagnostics, radiofrequency ablation techniques, and surgical innovations, Liesl is a core member of the the Russell Center treatment team and looks forward to partnering with you on your journey toward better health.
